Portfolio Exhibition and Review Day

High Point University’s Portfolio Exhibition and Review Day celebrates graduating Art and Design students by showcasing their work to the broader community. The university requested a postcard design that captures the spirit of creativity and achievement, serving as an inviting introduction for potential guests and industry professionals to engage with the next generation of talent. This project focuses on developing a visual identity that is both vibrant and professional, effectively promoting the event while reflecting the students’ dedication and artistry.

Objectives

  • Develop a cohesive and luxurious brand identity that reflects the sophisticated, high-end atmosphere of Obsidian.

  • Create flexible print materials and social media assets that effectively communicate the evolving cocktail menu and chef-driven selections.

  • Enhance brand recognition and engagement within Toronto’s competitive nightlife market, particularly on King Street.

  • Provide marketing collateral that supports both digital and physical promotion, ensuring consistency across all platforms.

Design Ratinoale

The postcard design highlights the range of art and design disciplines by featuring visual elements that represent each field. The typography is intentionally clear and legible, ensuring that recipients can easily identify the event’s significance. Brush stroke textures introduce dynamic movement and thoughtfully applied color, providing contrast against the black type and enhancing visual interest. Overall, the design delivers event information in a creative and accessible manner, balancing clarity with artistic expression.
